Amazing Matcha Powder

matcha drinkI was always feeling sluggish or tired every day around 2:00 PM. I didn’t want to drink coffee because that interferes with my sleep at night. A friend of mine on facebook started using matcha powder for energy and most recently, I was talking with a friend I work with and she also told me about Matcha! I just knew there was something to this great product! They both had Great things to say about it, so I did some research of my own. My research proved that it’s a natural alternative to caffine and since I’ve been using this I can honestly say that I LOVE Matcha Powder! It’s wonderful and makes me feel energetic without heart palpitations. I don’t get jittery or anxiety either like some things we take for increased metabolism. Just this week I was shopping at the local grocery store and there was a Womans World magazine with a Headline of “Turbo Diet Tea” and wrote that it’s 137 times more powerful than ordinary green tea; which I’ve always used green tea, so this was a big surprise to me. Matcha powder will help you get through the day and you’re giving your body some great antioxidants as well! If you have more time, you can also mix Matcha Powder with Almond Milk, some protein powder and honey…whipping it up together into a Great tasting smoothie! As the Womans World magazine wrote, Matcha keeps you young! One cup of matcha equals about 10 cups of ordinary green tea. Anything green tea can do, matcha does better! Studies hint that tea compounds protect against and even reverse sun damage! Now who doesn’t want to look younger! I know I do, haha….Matcha is a finely milled vibrant green tea powder made from the highest quality Japanese tea leaves. Organic Premium Matcha comes from Uji, a region high in the hills around Kyoto, renowned for producing the best Japanese teas. Only accessibly by foot, this remote area is unpolluted and rich in friendly bugs such as spiders, ladybirds, praying mantis and dragonflies to keep the pests under control (best to use organic matcha as non-organic matcha is grown using excessive amounts of agricultural fertilizers and pesticides).

Japanese Matcha has been known for centuries for its energy boosting, mind focusing, and metabolism enhancing properties. It has been drunk as part of the tea ceremony for 900 years and used by Buddhist monks to keep them alert and focussed during long days of meditation.

Growing conditions, time of harvest and processing techniques have a direct effect on the grade and final flavour of the Matcha:

Premium grade Matcha is ideal for both drinking and home baking, can add unique flavour and incredible colour to food and drink recipes.
Basic grade Matcha is slightly bitter, less expensive and is generally only used for cooking.

High-grade Organic Uji Matcha products are cultivated under the diligent management. It is very difficult to grow organic matcha; one must fight against both bugs and diseases. Harmful insects can appear because of small climate changes threatening the tea crop. For this reason, it is essential to manage the cultivation in a way that places primary importance on the natural ecosystem.
Ceremonial and Premium grades of Matcha are ground in stone mortars for many hours. This creates a unique light smoothness that is perfect for drinking.

Preparation in a tea bowl with a whisk and sifter:
Sift 1 tsp matcha tea into a tea bowl. Add 3 oz hot, not boiling, water (about 180 degrees). Using a Whisk, just wisk it together vigorously until a light frothy foam covers the top. Matcha is now ready to drink. Adjust proportions to taste. Start out with a teaspoon, add more for a stronger flavor. Add honey or Stevia sweetener if you like a sweeter taste.

When I’m at work I use the Matcha Powder on the go and drink it with cold water in the afternoon. It’s a Great pick me up! I just add it to some bottled water and shake it up real good. It’s makes a little frothy foam on top and tastes a lot like other regular iced teas. Why is matcha powder so necessary to take daily? Matcha is an Antioxidants Powerhouse! Harmful oxidants or free radicals are forms of oxygen, they can cause damage to body cells. If free radicals are not neutralized, they can work against the immune system and many other. Matchas by ORAC (oxygen radical absorbance capacity) rating is a mighty 1300 units per gram, compared to pomegranates 105 units per gram or blueberries 91 units. Matcha tea gives us younger-looking skin, and prevents a number of life-threatening maladies. It helps you lose weight since it revs up your metabolism. Matcha tea has also been shown to increase metabolism and help the body burn fat about four times faster than average. Again, unlike many diet aides currently on the market, Matcha causes no negative side-effects such as increased heart rate and high blood pressure. Energy Booster matcha even improved physical endurance by 24%.

Who doesn’t want to widdle down their wasteline? During my research, I also found that a single cup of matcha per day resulted in 25 times more belly fat loss than those given other diet aides.
